Right Working Environment
One factor in getting work done especially in the office is creating the perfect working environment. The way the company is structured is beyond the control of the person so one should just work with what can be controlled. The best time to do this is when one feels that the person is distracted from what is happening in the office and believes that a little change will make the work more productive. 1. Most people have a computer on the desk. One can position it in front of the person so distractions happening around can be ignored and people will be dissuaded from approaching one's work area. 2. If one’s office is in a closed space, one can put the table in front of the door so it will be easy to see if someone is coming. This can’t work if one's table is in an open area. 3. The work area is just for that individual. If there are other things in the area that could disrupt one's work, it is best to remove it. 4. All the papers and other essential things that a person needs must be within reach. One can get a corkboard to pin important dates on to remember, a small drawer to hold the stapler, pens and other documents, and the phone can be placed beside the computer so it can easily be answered. Other people prefer a whiteboard rather than a corkboard to jot down reminders. That choice depends on the person. 5. Some papers or files are used more often than others. A person can make a system alphabetically, coded or even colored which will enable the person to find it easily when needed. 6. One can request from the requisitions department an office tray for that person to have an inbox/outbox area on the table. If the office can’t provide one, then the individual will have to buy one. 7. In the office, one should mark all the important details whenever a document is received. This is part of making the working area systematic and helps the person to keep on track all the assignments that have not yet been completed. 8. Before going home for work, it is best to clean up the table of any garbage that has not been thrown. This will make it easier for the person to come back to work the next day and get the job done.
